April 6     Club Meeting - Speaker Mike McGovern

Mike joined Rotary in 1986 as a member of the Rotary Club of South Portland-Cape Elizabeth, Maine, USA. He has served as club president, district 7780 governor, district foundation chair, Rotarian Action Group chair, international training leader, RI committee member and chair, trustee and vice chair of the Rotary Foundation, and director and vice president of Rotary International.   He has served in numerous other positions at the district, zone and international levels and has attended five councils on legislation in various roles. He currently serves as chair of the International PolioPlus Committee and represents Rotary on the Polio Strategy Committee of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. Mike serves on the board of PPH National Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Rotary International providing liability insurance coverage to Rotary clubs in the United States.  He is a Major Donor to the Rotary Foundation and a recipient of the Rotary Foundation’s Citation for Meritorious Service and Distinguished Service Award.

May 4     Club Meeting - Speaker Annalisa Parent

Annalisa Parent helps writers to finish, publish and sell their novels. She owns and operates Date with the Muse, LLC, which helps storytellers to publish traditionally at the highest level possible.

A Teacher of the Year nominee for her use of neuroscience principles, she applies these same principles to her work with writers to create confidence, writing flow, and success.

Her book Storytelling for Pantsers: How to Write and Revise your Novel without an Outline helps non-outlining fiction writers to work through the writing and revision process with ease.It has been lauded by multiple New York Times bestselling author John David Mann as “brimming over with invaluable practical writerly wisdom…her love of life—pours out of every paragraph. Read her book. It will infuse joy into your days and make you a better writer.”

It is the recipient of a CIPA EVVY humor award. How many writing books do you know of that have earned humor awards?

June 1     Club Meeting - Speaker Drew Kessler, The Future of Rotary

Drew Kessler is a Vice President and Relationship Manager of the Commercial Real Estate division for M&T Bank.  He currently is responsible for a portfolio of loan and deposit relationships with major businesses within the metro New York City area; while increasing the bank’s business in established and developing markets.  His leadership positions in the industry date back to 2003.  Drew has built his career as one of the leading bankers in New York.  Drew prides himself on his commitment to client service and his comprehensive knowledge of the real estate and financing industry as well as his dedication to community service.

Drew values the relationships he has built with other professionals in the real estate industry; particularly the Realtors with whom he works hand-in-hand to make sure that their clients have a great experience.  In 2008 Drew obtained his Real Estate license and became a Realtor to better serve the Realtor community.  He was named President to the Rockland County Board of Realtors for the year of 2010 and served as the 2015 President for the 10,000-member Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors which covers Rockland, Westchester, Orange and Putnam counties in New York.  As a sign of his stature in the real estate community, Drew regularly appeared on Fox Business News from 2008-2013 for his expertise on the finance industry and the real estate market.

A Rotarian since 2001 at the age of 20, Kessler has served the North Rockland Rotary club in all levels of leadership and at the time became the youngest president in their 91-year history at the age 25.  Drew is a past District Governor of Rotary District 7210 which is made up of 1600 members in 50 clubs serving the 9 counties of the Hudson Valley in New York. Most recently served as the District’s Rotary Foundation Chair, an Assistant Rotary Coordinator for Zone 32 that encompasses New England, General Chair for the Mid North East President Elect Training  and was 1 of 8 members internationally to serve on the Young Past District Governor’s Committee that serves the Rotary International President.  Currently serving as Zone 28/32’s General Chair for the upcoming 2021 Symposium in Detroit, Michigan.  On December 1, 2020 was Drew nominated to join the 2022-24 Rotary International Board of Directors. Rotary is an organization that fosters and encourages the idea of Service in both the local and worldwide community. He lives by the motto “Service above Self”.

Drew resides in Hopewell Junction, New York with his wife Vicki and their five children Dilynn age 19, Joe age 18, Parker age 15, Jackson age 8 and Brandon age 5.

August 3     Club Meeting - Shari Storm, Category 6 Consulting

Shari Storm has been a member of Rotary Club of Emerald City since 2006. She spent 16 years as an executive at a credit union. She is now the CEO of a consulting company called Category 6. Her book, Motherhood is the New MBA: Using Your Parenting Skills to be a Better Boss, was published by St. Martin’s Press. With almost 20,000 copies sold, it has been translated and published in China and was purchased for publication in Brazil. She speaks around the country on a variety of topics. You can also see her TEDx talk on her website: sharistorm.com Shari grew up in sunny Kennewick and now lives in Edmonds, WA with her movie-making husband, three teenage daughters and a dog named Cedar.
